OUR STORY
The Roots
In 2016, The Park to the Nott Ride to Fight Parkinson's was born. This ride was created in memory of my father, Otto Weil, (click the link to learn more about my Dad) who suffered from Parkinson's Disease for more than 25 years, and died from complications of it in 1989. This ride raises funds for the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Three days of biking, almost 200 miles from NYC's Central Park to the Nott Memorial at Union College in Schenectady.
First Try
Our first ride started and ended with six riders (with a couple of substitutions along the way). By the end, two had completed the entire ride, eight had participated in portions of the ride and we had raised nearly $12,000 for Parkinson's research. After recuperating from the sores and aches and pains of the ride, we reflected on the fun we had and decided to make this an annual event. And today, as we embark on our eights ride, we have raised more than $80,000 for the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Prospects
There are more than five million people, worldwide, who are living with Parkinson's Disease - a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. There is no known cure. With your help and support of Team Fox and Team Union this year, we hope to creep closer to this year's goal of $15,000 and our overall goal of $500,000, and make a difference in the fight against this debilitating disease.
